Well-known Vancouver musician, bandleader and Magee alumnus Dal Richards will return to Magee to conduct the Magee Senior Jazz Band in a special concert that will result in Dal being inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records by none other than Vancouver business tycoon Jimmy Pattison!  This special concert will include performances by the Magee Strings, Chamber Choir, Wind Ensemble and Sr. Jazz Band.  Tickets for this special event are $25.00 and will go towards the fund that will begin the planning for Magee’s 100th anniversary in 2014.

Bramwell Tovey visits Magee

On November 24, VSO conductor Maestro Bramwell Tovey visited Magee to rehearse the wind ensemble on Rossini’s overture, An Italian in Algiers.  This was an exciting morning for our students.  Maestro Tovey’s wonderful sense of humour, knowledge of the music and caring attention to detail inspired the wind ensemble to bring the music to life.  I have posted some photos and video at the photo gallery here.
